 I've never tried to grow anything before, but, for whatever reason, I have been exploring some new hobbies  and bought some sunflower seeds at the grocery store.  It was still a little too cold, and I wasn't too sure how good the soil was outside my apartment, so I planted the seeds in little containers indoors.  Unfortunately, once they were viable enough to plant outdoors, we went on vacation, so I didn't get around to planting them until they were almost two feet tall.  Had I planted them outside sooner, I think I would have had even more flower and even stronger, straighter stalks.  BUT...even with that hiccup, I had so many beautiful sunflowers!  Here are just a couple pix I took:
