I think this has been most well said and truthful. It is like a class submitting a book report. They all read the same book, but each of them got a different meaning from it. Such is the beauty of art, that it can draw meaning from our perceptions.
Thanks for sharing your take on the video. It is always insightful to know what the makers intended when they created. This will definitely add to what some of us have already understood and add more dimensions. Eagerly awaiting more.
I apologize for this off topic irrelevance, but as a Star Wars fan of sorts I will commit the audacity to say your facts are wrong. Star Wars does not take place in the future. It is the most common mistake to assume Star Wars to be in the future. It is a story of the past. "LONG TIME AGO, In a galaxy far far away". The events occur in a remote galaxy unknown to us in the past. It appears futuristic, but in a galaxy far far away who knows where technology is now. Again I apologize, pardon my OCDness.

Speaking of Star Wars and being fans. Can we have a Princess Leia style photo shoot with Lena? Yulia can pick her favorite character. Pretty please. *grins* Always worth a try to ask.

That would be an interesting photoshoot. I can't help but think of Yulia dressed as Chewbacca, an Ewok, or Yoda. Mmm, sexy.
So, I have to ask, because I finally saw Revenge of the Sith...now I love Natalie Portman, and I think Ewan McGregor did the best job he could out of what he was given but...it is blasphemy to say, holy crap that sucked? And I mean like all three of the first episodes. D and I were talking about this for almost two hours the other night, examining why it sucked so bad, and yet the last three episodes rocked. Same guy, same ideas, supposedly written around the same time...how can they be so drastically different? For one I think he got way too preoccupied with graphics and hitting plot points, rather than developing the story and characters. It lacked emotions. The only emotion I felt in that entire movie, and I really tried to feel for Padme, was when Obi told him - You were supposed to be the Chosen One, tear. *sigh*
Oh and thanks Insider for the update. And you are a Star Wars fan? Interesting...sign of nerdiness...;)

I think there are two reasons why they are so different. First, George Lucas’ was a completely different person when he wrote these new movies. By this time he was married, he had kids, and too much success which means he wasn’t able to get completely lost in the stories and the characters the way he did when he wrote the last three episodes. Back then he was single and an eager young filmmaker and lived only for these films. And second, part of the reason why he decided to make the new ones is because he wanted to take advantage of all the technological advances. His main motivation was technology so the stories suffered. Bottom line: the first three movies are full of emotion but the special effects weren’t as sophisticated as they are now and the last three lack emotion because there is a preoccupation with technology. Same writer, different times and different motivations. Personally, I’d take a good story over special effects anytime but why can’t we have both?
Whatever, they’re all special in their own way. Plus, I’m not even a huge Star Wars fan - I would just LOVE to see a photoshoot of Lena as Princess Leia! Yulia can be the photographer. We’d get Lena/Princess Leia through Yulia’s eyes...mmmm *dreams*
Thanks Insider for the update and sorry for spamming your blog...oops.

I think Rosanna has hit the nail on this one here. The beauty of the first Star Wars movies was the passionate involvement of George Lucas. He had limited resources, people did not believe in his vision. However, he was a man with a dream and he put his heart and soul into making it. That is why the first movies had a story with emotions, the characters seemed to have so much more life. You felt for them, you remember their lines, the scenes are imprinted in your mind.
The recent movies lacked that soul. He was already a successful movie maker who had fulfilled his dream. It seems that this time around he focused more on the cool special effects and all the nifty technology he had readily available. He was presenting technology not a story.
The only reason I watched the recent ones was because I loved Star Wars and wanted to see the story of Darth Vader. I am disappointed as I wanted a story I could feel, but that was not to be. However, Revenge of the Sith did redeem the new ones a slight bit. While it comes nowhere close to the original some sequences were well executed emotionally too.
It makes you realize that technology, special effects, massive budgets and big names are not what that matters. What matters is the people behind it, the effort and emotions the put in. You know I think that is what makes Tatu stand out for me, they believe in what they are making. They want to convey a message an emotion. They don't focus on fake glossed up glitzy products that just look good but are hollow internally - the kind that is just a product no soul to it. They have their vision and work on fulfilling.
Somewhere down the line over the years I think our world has lost interest in the emotions and story behind things and are satisfied with only the external glossed up product.
Anyway speaking of Princess Leia photoshoot - I might have people raise eyebrows and give me strange looks for it. But I would love to see Yulia dressed as Luke. It would be sort of a fulfillment of my age old Luke & Leia twincest fantasy.
