It's just few minutes before ceremony begins, but for some reason there're no limos and fur coats at the main entrance. A huge truck drove to the wide-open doors instead. Entrance mistake?
Two Kawasaki bikes - a green one and a black one - slowly appeared, drove out of the truck and made way directly towards the red carpet. After skillful stop right at the entrance, the drivers removed their helmets... Wow! It's Yulia and Lena, t.A.T.u. band! Their appearance, wearing leather racing jackets and helmets, is a complete surprise for the crowd of fans. Where does it all come from, girls?
"Bikers theme has been in the air for a long time, maybe about three years", - Yulia says, "In some episodes in our "You and I " video we drove bikes, but only as passengers. All this time we were thinking how cool it would be to appear on a stage riding bikes. On our own! We learned to drive this summer and just waited for the right moment. MTV invited us to their MTV Russian Music Awards Ceremony and so we realized - it's time!"
"So, the day of the ceremony is approaching. Outside is real winter and we keep training - mastering extreme bike driving", - Lena continues - "There was such a mixed weather forecast for the day of the show, that nobody knew what to expect - snow, ice or rain? Actually I'm not an extreme person at all; on the contrary, I'm a very reasonable person. And I realized that we need to be ready for everything [on that day]. On our last training day we got so frozen! I don't even know how we've managed to ride bikes on ice...
The red carpet is a symbol of star's recognition. Somebody manages to walk on it just once and disappears from newspapers pages forever. But there are bandы who succeed to stay up for many years. For 9 years now t.A.T.u. keep fans excited with their unexpected moves. This year new t.A.T.u. video is coming out. Its story is based on risky race on motorbikes...
"I was really amazed by girls' motivation", Marat Kaknadze [instructor] tells us. He was involved in staging the trick for the MTV RMA opening, "Sure, while we were preparing, many things happened, I once had to catch them... But I want to say it straight: Not everyone has such a grasp as these girls have. In a very short time they successfully mastered extreme driving techniques - both Lena and Yulia. They have this serious, professional approach: 'can do' attitude. Also we're often shown really weird things in music videos, things that contradict physical laws. It's great that it's not t.A.T.u.'s case."
"I think a bike is the same as a car, just without roof and doors," shared Yulia, "I just sat on it and started to ride. I feel very comfortable on a bike, but to ride it fast and every day... no, not ready yet, I think."Lena added, "It was an amazing experience to learn to ride a bike. And it's an adrenalin dose: you start doing it and you can't quit. A car gives you different feelings."
t.A.T.u. girls asked us to wish all bikers happiness and luck, and please, don't forget about equipment, especially a helmet. Health is everything!
